Biography
Timothy Green (b. Perth, Western Australia 1992) is an interdisciplinary performance maker, designer and director, and graduate from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), receiving a Bachelor of Performing Arts, majoring in Performance Making in 2015. Timothy is currently undertaking an MA in Advanced Theatre Practice at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (RCSSD), graduating in late 2020.
Upcoming projects include co-creating and performing ‘The Golem’ (Humphrey Bower and Timothy Green) and devising dance in a development of ‘Equations of a Falling Body’ (Laura Boynes). In 2019 Tim performed in ‘SUNSET’ (Perth Festival), ‘Private Function’ (Static Drive Co.), and ‘The Apparatus’ (Humphrey Bower). Tim co-directed Tissue (Static Drive Co, 2018), devising and performing Night Sweats (Static Drive Co & The Blue Room Summer Nights 2018), stage managing and collaborating on HIRO (Samantha Chester 2018) and stage managing House on the Hill (WAAPA Performance Making, 2018).
Timothy was awarded two artist residencies in 2017 - a 3 month studio residency with pvi collective (Perth), and a month-long creative residency with Arteles Creative Centre (Hämeenkyrö, Finland).
In 2016 Tim co-created and co-directed the devised work Tissue at The Blue Room Theatre to wide acclaim. He was also selected to attend the Body of Ideas Lab at Critical Path in NSW, exploring notions of the body and how it is being reflected back in society, in art and in dance. Tim assistant directed Don’t Ever Stop, 600 seconds (2017) and performed in Romance in a Roomette, 600 seconds (2016) and in both cases his work was selected as part of the ‘Best Of’ showcase.
Tim worked closely with Samantha Chester and Dr Frances Barbe as a creative collaborator and stage manager for The Astronaut at The Blue Room Theatre in 2016 . Tim also assisted in the development of, and performed in Edge by Blankspace Productions (2016) and worked with Remnant Dance Theatre on the site specific work, The Mixed Half Dozen.
In 2015 Tim was one of six students selected to attend an intensive 6 week tour to the Intercultural Theatre Institute in Singapore, studying traditional Japanese Nō theatre under master practitioners. Also in 2015, he co-devised and performed in Tough, a movement-based work presented at The Blue Room as part of TILT.
In 2014 Tim was selected to attend workshops presented by Leimay Ludus Labs, New York, focusing on intensive Butoh, physical theatre and live art training.
An enthusiastic collaborator, Timothy Green is a lateral thinker and experimental maker. His practise and experience spans a wide range of roles within the arts - but the unifying factor is a desire to create and support work that is compelling, dynamic and contemporary.
